The Minima Amator II represents the evolution of an iconic loudspeaker first introduced in 1992, reinterpreted in a form that remains faithful to the original in both cabinet proportions and materials, yet enhanced by a deeply updated acoustic and stylistic design. Its aesthetic combines the elegance of Italian design with a contemporary vintage taste, transforming a technical device into a true piece of furniture. The cabinet, crafted from hand-finished solid walnut, expresses the artisanal care that has always distinguished the brand, offering at the same time a solid and acoustically refined structure. A thin brass strip at the base adds a bright and precious touch, subtly evoking Sonus faber’s historical tradition. The front and rear panels are covered in hand-stitched genuine leather, a detail that enhances the refinement of the cabinet and ideally frames the “Voice of Sonus faber.”

Technically, the Minima Amator II is a two-way bookshelf speaker with a rear bass reflex port. The drivers are developed in-house, reflecting a pursuit of natural and engaging sound. The 28 mm tweeter features a silk dome with DAD (Damped Apex Dome) geometry and a neodymium magnet, a design aimed at delivering smooth yet detailed high frequencies free from harshness. The 150 mm midwoofer uses a cone made from cellulose pulp and natural fibers treated with a transparent damping material, chosen for its ability to reproduce the midrange with warmth and realism while maintaining good low-frequency articulation. The crossover, built with selected hi-end components and designed according to the Paracross Topology scheme, is optimized to reduce resonances and maintain tonal coherence between the two drivers. The use of different materials in the cabinet, each with unique mechanical properties, helps damp unwanted vibrations, ensuring a more natural sound without artificial coloration.
