The Sonus faber Duetto stereo multimedia system consists of a pair of compact active two-way speakers designed to deliver uncompromising sound quality by combining the brand’s acoustic excellence with the most advanced digital and analog connectivity. Each speaker integrates a Wi-Fi and Ethernet network streamer, Bluetooth, a high-quality DAC, and a phono stage for turntables with MM cartridges, ensuring a complete and versatile Hi-Fi experience. The bi-amplification is carefully selected with dedicated amplifiers for each driver in both channels: a 100-watt Class AB amplifier for the high frequencies and a 250-watt Class D amplifier for the mid-lows, providing optimal power and control.

The speakers are the result of Sonus faber’s research and development team: the 5.25-inch midwoofer features a long-excursion paper pulp cone with suspension optimized through F.E.M. simulations and a neodymium magnet motor, while the organic asymmetric basket, with proprietary geometry and patterned structure, effectively controls vibrations, making the support completely resonance-free. The 1.1-inch tweeter is constructed with a natural silk soft dome and equipped with a carefully designed waveguide ring to ensure wide sound dispersion and optimal off-axis high-frequency diffusion.

The digital DSP crossover is a low-distortion evolution of Sonus faber’s traditional analog crossovers, offering extensive equalization, customization, and user control options. Audiophile-grade DAC converters include ESS Sabre and AKM chips (the latter dedicated to the subwoofer signal) to ensure precise and detailed reproduction. The iconic lute-shaped cabinet with elegantly curved walls is designed using F.E.M. COMSOL Multiphysics simulations to maximize rigidity and optimize internal acoustics, effectively minimizing vibrations and standing waves.

The bass reproduction impresses with its extension, impact, and timbral quality thanks to an innovative reflex system that occupies nearly the entire rear panel of the speakers, extending internally through a curved, rounded duct ending in a flared track profile, maintaining very low distortion levels. The thermal dissipation system is an extension of the reflex duct structure, developed through simulations and thermal camera testing to guarantee efficiency and reliability.

Wireless transmission relies on Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology from Spark Microsystems, operating in the 7.2 GHz band and calibrated for perfect time alignment between the Master and Slave speakers, ensuring flawless synchronization and ultra-low latency. The system supports multiroom functionality and integrated streaming with Spotify, TIDAL Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Bluetooth (featuring aptX HD, aptX, AAC, and SRC receivers), and is Roon Ready certified.

For analog and digital connectivity, Duetto offers HDMI inputs with ARC/eARC functionality for bidirectional TV audio connection, optical Toslink digital input, stereo analog L/R RCA input switchable between line level and MM phono, plus an RCA Sub output with configurable high-pass filter. Network connectivity is provided by Dual Band Wi-Fi interfaces (2.4/5.2 GHz, a/b/g/n/ac) and an RJ45 Ethernet port.

System control is managed through a proprietary touch interface called SENSO, integrated into the leather-covered top panel of the Master speaker and featuring multicolor light lines indicating operational status, with remote control capability as well. System setup and management can be completed via any web browser, supported by dedicated mobile apps for iOS and Google Home, along with full compatibility with users’ preferred streaming apps on smartphones, tablets, or computers for a fully integrated and high-level digital listening experience.
