The ProAc Tablette Reference Eight was conceived as a tribute to the legendary 1979 Tablette, but it has been completely redesigned with modern technology while retaining the compact dimensions that made the original famous. Its cabinet, crafted from high-quality birch plywood and internally damped with bitumen to minimize resonance, preserves the original proportions but houses an impressively sophisticated acoustic structure. The real wood veneer finish, executed with the signature ProAc elegance, gives the speaker a timeless and refined appearance.

From the very first listen, it surprises with its ability to deliver a sound that is wide, deep, and precise—far beyond what its size might suggest. The 4.5-inch mid/bass driver is a feat of audio engineering, featuring a die-cast magnesium chassis, raised suspension, and a highly linear low-distortion motor system, all contributing to extended, controlled bass and a clear, transparent midrange. Two small rear reflex ports help reduce coloration and further refine low-frequency performance.

The crossover is meticulously designed and wired directly to the terminals to preserve signal integrity. Compared to previous models, it features a larger bass inductor, ensuring more powerful output and lower distortion. The newly developed 1-inch soft silk dome tweeter, exclusive to ProAc, includes a specially designed surround and internal chamber, offering a smooth, linear response rich in detail without ever becoming fatiguing. The transition between midrange and treble is seamless, enhancing overall tonal coherence and naturalness.

Despite its compact size, the speaker produces a soundstage that is spacious, deep, and precise—challenging the need for much larger speakers to achieve similar performance. However, it does require careful placement: it performs best on solid, heavy stands and within systems that have a warmer or more relaxed tonal character.
