The Klipsch x OJAS kO-R2 is a limited-edition two-way passive loudspeaker born from the collaboration between Klipsch and acoustic designer Ojas, the artistic name of Devon Turnbull, a key figure in the world of high-efficiency audio culture. Handcrafted in the historic Klipsch workshops in Hope, Arkansas, it represents a synthesis of artisanal tradition and contemporary acoustic and aesthetic research, with an extremely limited production run of only a few hundred pairs intended for collectors and enthusiasts.

The design is centered around an imposing Ojas 1506 multisector horn made of heavy die-cast aluminum, finished with electrophoretic treatment and matte black powder coating. Inspired by classic Western Electric and Altec systems, this structure draws from multicellular horn geometry and evolves it into a modern configuration featuring a square and isosceles trapezoidal mouth, engineered to ensure extremely even sound dispersion both horizontally and vertically. The result is a reproduction that combines visual impact with acoustic precision, delivering a coherent and controlled projection of the mid and high frequencies.

The loudspeaker integrates a high-quality compression driver and a construction carefully optimized according to efficiency-driven acoustic principles, in line with Ojas’ design philosophy, which favors a natural, direct sound free from artificial coloration. The Baltic birch cabinet contributes both structural rigidity and overall tonal quality, adding a refined and material character to the design. Every component is carefully selected, from the anodized aluminum terminals to the rubber anti-vibration feet, and the laser-engraved metal nameplate that emphasizes the model’s exclusivity.

Fine adjustment of the high frequencies is handled by a five-position attenuation control, allowing precise tuning of the sound behavior according to the listening environment and personal preferences. This level of adjustability, combined with the system’s high efficiency, makes the kO-R2 particularly suitable for low-power tube amplification setups, in line with the traditional reference systems favored by Ojas.

The project is also part of a broader cultural context, tied to Klipsch’s 80th anniversary celebration and its world premiere at Milan Design Week, where the loudspeaker is presented as an immersive and highly personalized listening experience. The combination of minimalist design, historically rooted acoustic engineering, and contemporary artistic vision elevates the kO-R2 beyond the concept of a conventional loudspeaker, turning it into a sculptural object designed for listeners seeking a direct, physical, and emotional connection with music.
