Three-way loudspeaker belonging to the historic production of the German manufacturer Canton and introduced in the early 1980s. The model is part of the Quinto series and represents the evolution of the earlier GLE 100, retaining its general design approach while featuring a taller and deeper cabinet.

The bass section uses a 310 mm long-throw woofer, combined with a 38 mm dome midrange driver and a 20 mm dome tweeter. The crossover frequencies are set at 800 Hz and 3,500 Hz, while the nominal impedance is 8 ohms. The stated frequency response extends from 22 Hz to 30 kHz, with a power handling of 100 watts and a recommended amplifier power of between 40 and 140 watts.

The cabinet is made of wood-based material and features a non-detachable construction. The front panel is protected by a removable metal grille, while the midrange and high-frequency drivers are positioned in the upper section and the large woofer is located below.

The 31 cm woofer allows the Quinto 540 to reproduce low frequencies with considerable extension for a loudspeaker of its generation while maintaining a controlled response. The paper woofer cone and rubber surround contribute to the system's low-frequency response, while the dome midrange and dedicated tweeter respectively handle the vocal range and upper frequencies.

The model's voicing emphasizes a balance between extension and control in the bass range and an articulated reproduction of the mid and high frequencies. Vocals are reproduced through the 38 mm dome midrange, while the 20 mm tweeter extends the response into the upper frequencies without altering the overall character of the loudspeaker.
