KEF LS LUXE

Active wireless Hi-Fi speakers that integrate amplification, digital signal processing and connectivity into a single stereo system, designed to reproduce music from a variety of sources without requiring dedicated external electronics. The design combines a compact form factor with technical solutions aimed at controlling acoustic response, ensuring accurate reproduction and integrating seamlessly into home environments.

The cabinet is the result of a collaboration with industrial designer Ross Lovegrove and features organic shapes and continuous surfaces without pronounced edges. Its rigid composite construction is designed to minimise vibrations and diffraction, reducing potential sound colouration caused by the interaction between the sound waves and the enclosure. The internal arrangement of the components also helps control mechanical interference, while Velocity-based Force Cancelling (VBF) technology counteracts the forces generated by driver movement, contributing to cleaner and more precise sound reproduction.

The acoustic system is based on KEF's 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array, which combines a 160 mm mid/bass driver with a 25 mm tweeter featuring MAT (Metamaterial Absorption Technology). This configuration promotes uniform sound dispersion and a coherent soundstage, widening the optimal listening area while maintaining stable stereo imaging even when the listener moves away from the central listening position. High-frequency performance is further refined by a dedicated HF-Link and a filter system designed to minimise distortion and preserve detail.

Amplification is provided by separate stages for each driver, with 280 W of Class D amplification dedicated to the woofer and 100 W of Class A/B amplification for the tweeter. The operation of the various components is coordinated by the Music Integrity Engine, a digital processing platform that manages driver response, phase, crossover and signal optimisation. This architecture is complemented by VECO (Velocity Control Technology), which detects the woofer's actual movement and compares it with the movement required by the music signal, making corrections to improve control. The result is articulate and precise bass reproduction, with well-defined attacks and natural decay, keeping bass lines clearly intelligible even during complex musical passages.

Acoustic response is also adapted to the characteristics of the room and speaker placement through the integrated Room EQ and calibration tools. Digital processing helps maintain a consistent tonal balance, while the full-range configuration is designed to provide an extended frequency response without necessarily requiring an external subwoofer. Vocals, instruments and dynamic passages are reproduced with good separation and a stable soundstage, preserving the natural character of the music even with detail-rich recordings.

The KEF LS Luxe feature a streaming system that supports Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast and Spotify Connect, as well as access to compatible music services over the network. Wi-Fi connectivity enables playback from smartphones, tablets and computers, while the Ethernet port provides a wired alternative for a more stable network connection. The two speakers can communicate wirelessly or be connected using the supplied Ethernet cable, offering an option for greater connection stability and high-resolution audio transmission.

The range of inputs includes HDMI eARC for connecting a television, a digital optical input and a digital coaxial RCA input with 8x oversampling. This selection of connections allows the system to be used for both music listening and TV audio playback, bringing multiple sources together in a tidy configuration with fewer external components.

System control and configuration are handled by the KEF Connect app, which provides access to compatible music content, playback management and sound settings. The available adjustment tools allow users to tailor speaker performance to their listening preferences and room characteristics, simplifying both initial setup and everyday operation.

The LS Luxe can be placed on a desk, on furniture or on dedicated speaker stands, making them suitable for a variety of home environments. The optional stands are designed to provide stable support, accommodate tidy cable routing and allow each speaker to be securely attached to the top plate. Their compact design and integrated connectivity make the system ideal for those seeking a complete stereo setup without bulky electronics or extensive cabling.
