The Technics SL-1200GR2 is a next-generation direct-drive turntable that elevates the listening experience through innovative technology and refined audio performance. At its core is the revolutionary ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive) system, designed to eliminate even the smallest motor vibrations and deliver precise, smooth, and immersive musical reproduction. This new generation represents the first phase of a project that combines decades of Technics expertise with the goal of providing unmatched performance.
The coreless direct-drive motor ensures stable and consistent rotation, eliminating the cogging effect typical of iron-core motors and optimizing rotational smoothness. Compared to belt-drive systems, it minimizes motor-induced vibrations, enhancing the signal-to-noise ratio and providing long-term reliability without the need for frequent component replacements. The ΔΣ-Drive, together with Technics’ expertise in PWM signal processing, improves the accuracy of the cartridge’s electromagnetic conversion and reduces unwanted harmonic frequencies, ensuring faithful and detailed musical reproduction.
The high-speed switching power supply provides stable, low-noise voltage, eliminating the need for a bulky transformer and further reducing mechanical vibrations. With a switching frequency above 100 kHz and active noise cancellation via current injection, any residual interference is detected and neutralized, creating an ideal, pristine environment for pure audio.
The S-shaped tonearm, statically balanced with a lightweight, rigid aluminum tube, gimbal suspension, and high-precision bearings, ensures accurate groove tracking. Its high starting-point sensitivity of 5 mg or less allows even the subtlest dynamics to be faithfully reproduced. The tonearm also features a secondary weight, providing maximum flexibility when using different cartridges.
The two-layer platter combines die-cast aluminum with a damping rubber layer to eliminate unwanted resonance, delivering clear, detailed sound. Optimized inertia and rear reinforcing ribs increase rigidity, further improving performance and providing more than double the vibration damping compared to the SL-1200MK5.
The dual-layer cabinet securely bonds the BMC injection-molded coating with the die-cast aluminum chassis, ensuring superior rigidity and stability. Gold-plated phono terminals allow connection of removable cables, while internal metal shielding minimizes the influence of external noise.
Silicone anti-vibration feet provide optimal damping and long-term durability, completing a turntable designed for precision, reliability, and an exceptional listening experience.
