Network player designed to integrate an existing stereo system or home theater system into the Sonos ecosystem. Connected to an external amplifier or home theater system, it provides access to music streaming services and allows playback to be extended to multiple rooms throughout the home.

The device allows music, podcasts, audiobooks and Internet radio to be played through the connected audio system, as well as music stored on computers, Macs and NAS devices on the home network. It also supports playback of music libraries from compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices.

The CONNECT features both analog and digital audio outputs, with optical and coaxial connections, and allows users to select fixed or variable output level. The analog line-in input can be used to connect external sources such as turntables, CD or MP3 players, televisions, DVD players and other equipment, distributing their audio to other Sonos devices on the network.

The system is controlled from smartphones and tablets using the Sonos Controller app. Playback and volume can be controlled individually in each room, or multiple rooms can be grouped to play the same content in synchronization. Room-specific controls for bass, treble, balance and loudness are also available.

The system provides access to numerous online music services and thousands of Internet radio stations without requiring a computer for playback. The availability of individual services varies by region.

Wireless connectivity can use the home Wi-Fi network or SonosNet technology, a dedicated mesh network that connects Sonos devices. SonosNet uses multiple antennas and radios with MIMO technology to extend coverage and maintain synchronized playback across different rooms, while also reducing the impact of wireless interference. The CONNECT is compatible with other generations of Sonos components and can be integrated into multi-room configurations together with other devices in the range.
