Shanling SMT1.3 is a network streamer and pure digital transport designed to integrate seamlessly into high-end Hi-Fi systems, providing a dedicated digital source without an internal D/A converter. Derived from the technologies developed for Shanling's flagship SM1.3, it focuses entirely on delivering the digital signal with maximum precision while offering broad compatibility with external DACs and premium audio systems.

The unit is powered by a deeply customized version of Android 12, specifically optimized for Hi-Fi audio applications. Shanling's proprietary user interface ensures smooth and intuitive operation thanks to a Rockchip 64-bit ARM processor featuring Cortex-A55 cores and 4 GB of RAM, providing fast access to applications, music libraries, and network functions.

User interaction is handled through a large 4.96-inch Sharp Full HD IPS touchscreen complemented by a multifunction backlit rotary control with customizable illumination. The redesigned graphical interface provides immediate access to settings, music libraries, playlists, streaming services, and network storage, emphasizing simplicity, clarity, and ease of operation.

SMT1.3 natively integrates the most popular music streaming platforms, including Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music, Apple Music, KKBox, and Presto Music. It also supports DLNA and AirPlay 2, allowing music streaming from a wide range of compatible devices. Access to files stored on NAS servers and network drives is equally straightforward thanks to Samba protocol support, while the automatic update system ensures that applications and features remain up to date.

For remote operation, Shanling provides the new Eddict Controller application, available for Android and iOS devices. The app offers complete control of the streamer from a smartphone or tablet through a fast, stable, and intuitive interface, making every operation—from music selection to system configuration—simple and convenient.

The digital output section is one of the SMT1.3's greatest strengths. The streamer features six different digital audio outputs, including USB, AES/EBU via XLR, BNC, coaxial, optical Toslink, and HDMI I²S. A dedicated FPGA manages the I²S interface and allows users to select from ten different pinout configurations, ensuring outstanding compatibility with a wide range of external D/A converters.

The entire signal path is engineered to provide true bit-perfect transmission. Shanling's proprietary AGLO technology bypasses Android's standard sample-rate conversion, preserving the original audio data and delivering exceptionally accurate playback of both standard and high-resolution audio files.

Clock precision is entrusted to two premium ACCUSILICON oscillators operating at 45.1584 MHz and 49.152 MHz. This dual-clock architecture improves timing accuracy, minimizes jitter, and enhances the playback performance of both PCM and DSD audio formats.

Shanling also incorporates an advanced upsampling engine based on the CT7302CL chip. This feature enables PCM upsampling up to 768 kHz and All-to-DSD conversion up to DSD512 through the I²S output. The coaxial, BNC, and AES/EBU outputs support PCM upsampling up to 192 kHz and All-to-DSD conversion up to DSD64, while the USB output preserves the original signal without applying any upsampling.

Particular attention has been devoted to the power supply, a critical element in high-fidelity audio components. SMT1.3 employs a linear power supply built around a custom-designed 31 W toroidal transformer, providing exceptionally clean and stable power while reducing unwanted interference and preserving the integrity of the digital signal.

Network connectivity is equally advanced, supporting both wired and wireless operation. The streamer features a Gigabit Ethernet port alongside dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz), ensuring reliable connections, fast data transfer, and uninterrupted streaming even with high-resolution audio content.
