The Matrix Audio Element S is the first music streamer from Matrix Audio featuring USB DAC outputs, designed to easily bring streaming functionality to any existing hi‑fi system. With a wide range of digital ports, not limited to USB, the Element S is compatible even with older DACs, making it an essential upgrade for anyone looking to embrace the world of audio streaming without replacing their entire system.

The interface is managed by MA Player, a digital control system developed by Matrix Audio, which allows users to manage network-connected audio devices via smartphones or tablets, browse music stored on network drives or USB devices, and play high-resolution streaming audio. MA Player integrates streaming technologies such as Roon Ready, DLNA/UPnP, QPlay, AirPlay 2, QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, and Audirvāna, providing a comprehensive experience both locally and over the network. The MA Remote app, available for iOS and Android, allows users to browse and play their local music library, access TIDAL, Qobuz, and HIGHRESAUDIO, listen to internet radio, and manage streamer configurations and firmware updates.

The Element S features a 3.46-inch high-resolution touch screen that offers an intuitive user interface and precise monitoring of device status. During playback, the display shows metadata such as album artwork, album name, track title, and artist, making the listening experience more complete and engaging. The USB DAC interface transmits PCM or DSD high-resolution audio bit-perfect to compatible DACs, with an ultra-low noise 5V/1A output powered via a multi-stage linear regulator and filter circuit, ensuring optimal performance.

The Element S provides high-quality S/PDIF outputs, including optical, coaxial, and AES/EBU, supporting up to 24Bit/192kHz PCM or 1Bit/DSD64 in DoP. The IIS-LVDS output supports up to 32Bit/768kHz PCM and 1Bit/DSD512, with four pin types and two MCLK modes configurable via the MA Remote App, and with electrical isolation of ground wires to reduce noise. The USB Audio port transforms computers, smartphones, or tablets into high-quality digital sources, supporting up to 32Bit/768kHz PCM and 1Bit/DSD512, and allows HID control of playback directly from the device.

The device integrates two ultra-low-noise femtosecond clocks from Accusilicon for 44.1kHz and 48kHz frequencies and their multiples, coordinated by an FPGA to reduce jitter and preserve the detail of digital music. Network connectivity is provided via Gigabit Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), ensuring stability and speed even for high-resolution streams, while the integrated antenna keeps the design simple and tidy. The Element S is thus a versatile and sophisticated device, capable of upgrading any hi‑fi system to modern high-quality streaming audio.
