EVERSOLO DMP-A8 GEN. 2

The Eversolo DMP-A8 Gen. 2 is an all-in-one component that combines a network streamer, DAC and analogue preamplifier in a single unit, providing a complete solution for managing an audio system. Its aerospace-grade aluminium chassis helps shield the circuitry from external interference and reduce noise, while system processing is handled by an Octa-Core processor supported by 8 GB of DDR5 memory and 64 GB of eMMC storage, used for managing applications and the music library.

The digital-to-analogue conversion section uses an architecture based on the AK4191EQ and AK4499EXEQ chips, with separate digital processing and D/A conversion stages. The system supports lossless files such as FLAC, WAV and APE up to DSD512 and incorporates AKM's Velvet Sound™ technology. The EOS Audio Engine allows Android's SRC process to be bypassed, maintaining a Bit-Perfect signal path, while volume control is handled by a high-precision R-2R resistor network operating in the analogue domain.

Network connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi 6 at 2.4 and 5 GHz, an RJ-45 Ethernet port and an optical SFP interface, the latter designed to isolate the network connection from electrical interference. Local storage is provided by an M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 slot accessible from the underside of the unit, compatible with SSDs up to 8 TB. The DMP-A8 Gen. 2 also supports access to shared music libraries via SMB, NFS and WebDAV and integrates streaming services including Apple Music, TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Deezer and Spotify. Spotify Connect Lossless, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect and DLNA/UPnP protocols are also supported.

The user interface is provided by an 8.6-inch LCD touchscreen with real-time VU meter and audio spectrum displays. The device can be controlled via the Eversolo Control app, available for smartphones, tablets, Web and TV, with synchronisation of the operating status. The Wake-on-LAN function allows the unit to be powered on remotely over the network, while the supplied remote control uses both Bluetooth and infrared and features a metal-alloy chassis.

The analogue section adopts a fully balanced preamplifier architecture, with XLR and RCA inputs and gain of up to +10 dB. The XLR and RCA analogue outputs allow connection to power amplifiers or active loudspeakers, while a dedicated SUB output allows a subwoofer to be integrated into the system. Digital connections include a balanced AES/EBU interface on XLR and a USB output capable of handling signals up to DSD512 Native and PCM 768 kHz/32-bit. The IIS interface also provides eight configurable modes to accommodate different external DACs.

The DMP-A8 Gen. 2 incorporates the evotune™ PRO room correction system, which allows the system response to be adjusted according to the acoustic characteristics of the listening environment. Analysis can be carried out using USB microphones or a smartphone and is processed through DRC modelling and FIR filters to address frequency response, timing and spatial imaging. This is complemented by a 20-band PEQ parametric equaliser, with adjustable frequency, gain and Q factor, as well as the ability to upsample the audio signal by up to 16×.
