Network music streamer designed to bring high-resolution streaming to an existing hi-fi system or powered speakers. The model celebrates Bluesound's tenth anniversary and builds on the NODE platform, introducing a silver finish, an ESS Sabre DAC and a dedicated headphone stage based on THX AAA™ technology.

The digital section uses a 1.8 GHz Quad-Core ARM Cortex A53 processor and an ESS Sabre DAC supporting audio processing up to 24-bit/192 kHz. The NODE X can therefore handle high-resolution content from major streaming services, Internet radio stations and a local digital music library, with access to content and settings through the BluOS Controller app for iOS, Android, Mac and PC. The platform integrates services such as Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer and Spotify, along with numerous other streaming platforms.

Network connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet, while two-way Bluetooth with aptX HD support allows the NODE X to be used with compatible Bluetooth sources and devices. AirPlay 2 and USB are also available, while the HDMI eARC input allows a compatible television to be connected and its audio to be integrated into the system.

Connection to an existing system can be made through the analog and digital outputs, while the connectivity options also include TOSLINK optical and other possibilities for integration with Bluesound or BluOS-compatible devices. The NODE X can also manage a subwoofer and provides both wired and wireless headphone connectivity. The headphone stage uses THX Achromatic Audio Amplifier (THX AAA™) technology and is equipped with a 6.35 mm (1/4-inch) jack output for direct connection of headphones with a standard connector.

The BluOS platform turns the NODE X into a hub for multi-room systems, allowing multiple Bluesound players and compatible BluOS devices distributed throughout the home to be connected and controlled. The system can manage up to 64 BluOS players and synchronize them for high-resolution music playback up to 24-bit, allowing the NODE X to serve as a central source in audio systems distributed across multiple rooms.

The main controls for playback, pause, track selection and volume adjustment are available directly on the top panel through touch-sensitive controls, with the option of recalling presets. The NODE X also features an IR input and supports control via the included Bluesound RC1 remote. Advanced functions, including tone controls, subwoofer crossover configuration and settings related to the use of external DACs, can be managed through the BluOS Controller app.

Control can also be integrated with voice assistants and home automation systems. BluVoice allows Alexa to be used to control the players, while integration is available with control platforms such as Lutron, Elan, RTI and Crestron. The NODE X can therefore be incorporated into both a traditional hi-fi system and a multi-room audio and home automation infrastructure.
