The Wadia di322 stands out for its impressive physical presence, immediately conveying a sense of solidity and quality. The DAC commands attention, evoking the same feeling of assurance and satisfaction as closing the door of a luxury German car. Its rounded die-cast aluminum chassis, finished in elegant matte silver, is paired with a flush glass panel featuring the illuminated Wadia logo, subtly reflecting the aesthetic philosophy of Apple products, where design and functionality harmoniously converge. The screwless construction, clean lines, and integrated rubber feet ensure stability and flawless aesthetics, while a second illuminated logo on the front and a dimmable alphanumeric fluorescent display provide clear information about the selected digital input, sampling frequency, and volume level. The main controls, located next to the display, include Volume +, Volume -, Setup, Input, and Standby/On, all replicated on the remote control, which also adds a Phase Invert function, with the headphone jack positioned on the left side.
On the rear panel, all connectors are mounted on a recessed plate within the aluminum body. It includes the IEC power inlet, trigger in/out jacks, two optical TosLink inputs, two coaxial RCA inputs, a USB Type-B input supporting PCM up to 24/384 and DSD256, a DIN input for connecting future Wadia models, and stereo analog outputs via RCA and XLR. The gold-plated RCA outputs are chassis-mounted, ensuring durability and reliability when connecting and disconnecting interconnects.
Inside, the di322 is powered by the eight-channel ESS Sabre 9016S DAC chip, achieving a 128 dB dynamic range in quad-balanced stereo configuration. The volume control is digitally implemented within the chip itself, offering 0.5 dB accuracy and the ability to drive most amplifiers effortlessly (0–4 V RMS unbalanced, 0–8 V RMS balanced). The fully regulated power supply features an R-core transformer, and the unit achieves a specified signal-to-noise ratio of 110 dB.
The Wadia di322 is not just visually impressive; it delivers powerful and engaging sound, with a deep soundstage, full bass, and wide dynamic range. It handles music at high volumes with confidence, maintaining detail and naturalness. The robust build and elegant design provide the owner with immediate pride and satisfaction, while the listening experience reveals the engineering excellence within the DAC, offering both aesthetic pleasure and deeply rewarding musical interaction.
The Wadia di322 combines commanding physical presence, impeccable construction, and high-level sonic performance, transforming any audio system into a richer, more detailed, and immersive experience, demonstrating that the value of a DAC is measured not only in technical specifications but also in the joy of owning and using it daily.
