High-Resolution DAC
Synthesis introduces the ROMA69DC digital-to-analog converter, a perfect blend of cutting-edge technology, tonal refinement, and artisanal craftsmanship. Designed for the most demanding enthusiasts, this tube DAC combines elegant design with top-tier sound performance. At its core lies the renowned Asahi Kasei AK4495SEQ chip, capable of handling audio streams up to DSD512 and 32-bit/768 kHz PCM via the USB type “B” input, while the optical and coaxial connections support resolutions up to 384 kHz. Every detail is engineered to ensure faithful, dynamic, and engaging signal conversion.
The output stage employs a dual-mono tube configuration with one ECC88 per channel used as a differential amplifier. This technical solution ensures perfect matching with the digital converter, delivering very low output impedance and an extremely wide bandwidth. The result is a sound that impresses for its naturalness, transparency, and harmonic richness, featuring a deep and well-defined soundstage.
Special attention is also given to the headphone output, equipped with a high-fidelity driver capable of delivering astonishing performance: headphone listening offers a realistic, balanced, and never fatiguing experience, ideal for long music sessions. The entire audio circuitry is supported by high-quality metallized polypropylene capacitors, chosen for their excellent electrical and sonic properties, while power is supplied by an oversized toroidal transformer with shielding, minimizing electromagnetic interference and ensuring stable and quiet delivery. Critical circuits are powered by a fully regulated multi-stage power supply to preserve signal integrity under all conditions.
Aesthetically, the ROMA69DC stands out for the sophistication of its finishes and materials, featuring a lacquered wood front panel and a recessed backlit LC display for a clean, minimalist look. Although the panel’s depth may make volume control slightly less immediate to access, the user experience remains intuitive and enjoyable. The rear panel offers a complete set of digital inputs, including two optical, two coaxial, and one USB-B port, plus a digital optical output and a pair of unbalanced RCA analog outputs. The ROMA69DC perfectly embodies Synthesis’s philosophy: blending tradition and innovation to deliver emotion, precision, and beauty in musical listening.
