The Luxman DA-250 is a USB D/A converter designed to deliver outstanding sonic performance and exceptional versatility within modern audio systems and high-end desktop hi-fi setups. Developed as the direct evolution of the acclaimed DA-200, this model integrates updated technologies and advanced circuit solutions inside a compact and elegant chassis engineered to become the centerpiece of high-resolution digital playback. Its architecture is designed to ensure refined, dynamic, and highly detailed musical reproduction, enhancing every source with a distinctly audiophile approach.

At the core of the digital section is the 32-bit PCM1795 converter manufactured by Texas Instruments, capable of handling PCM signals up to 192 kHz/32-bit via USB input as well as DSD streams up to 5.64 MHz. Internally, the system performs upsampling up to 352.8 kHz/384 kHz at 32-bit resolution, contributing to improved precision and a more natural sound presentation. The S/PDIF inputs support PCM signals up to 192 kHz/24-bit and allow connection to CD players, streamers, and other digital sources through coaxial and optical connections. Selectable 32-bit PCM digital filters and dedicated DSD analog FIR filters also allow the listener to tailor the sonic character according to personal preferences.

Particular attention has been paid to jitter reduction and phase-noise suppression through the use of high-precision clock modules independently dedicated to the 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz frequency families. The asynchronous USB transmission system, combined with Luxman’s proprietary DAIR technology for S/PDIF processing, ensures extremely accurate synchronization and more stable, transparent, and natural playback.

The analog section inherits the DAC, preamplifier, and headphone amplifier configuration of the previous DA-200 while introducing significant improvements in both sound quality and functionality. Luxman’s proprietary LECUA volume control system is implemented using six independent integrated circuits separately dedicated to the line and headphone outputs, eliminating channel imbalance at low listening levels while preserving signal integrity. Both balanced and unbalanced line outputs can operate in either fixed or variable mode, allowing direct connection to power amplifiers or active speakers without the need for an external preamplifier.

The headphone amplifier section benefits from significantly improved driving capability thanks to the addition of a dedicated discrete buffer stage, complemented by a sensitivity selector that allows optimal matching with different headphone models. Each output is also equipped with an independent buffer circuit designed to prevent sonic degradation when multiple outputs are used simultaneously. An additional analog input further expands integration possibilities within a complete hi-fi system.

The power supply section features a large-capacity transformer combined with independent regulators for each circuit and high-capacity capacitors, a configuration designed to ensure excellent energy stability, low noise floor, and consistent performance under demanding operating conditions. The front panel incorporates a highly visible two-stage LED display with dimmer function, while the rear panel is equipped with gold-plated RCA connectors and premium Neutrik XLR terminals to guarantee reliable connectivity and compatibility with high-grade audio cabling.

The DA-250 also supports the proprietary Luxman Audio Player software, compatible with numerous high-resolution formats including DSF and FLAC, offering a simple and optimized interface for high-quality music playback. The combination of its technical sophistication, build quality, and advanced functionality makes this converter a complete and refined solution for listeners seeking digital precision, analog musicality, and maximum operational flexibility within a single compact component.
