The Auralic Vega S1 is a digital-to-analog converter with an integrated streamer, developed to provide a complete solution for high-resolution music playback. Part of the AURALiC S1 series, it represents the DAC/Streamer model of the range and incorporates many technologies derived from the American brand's higher-end products, while maintaining a compact form factor and a design philosophy focused on the balance between performance and accessibility.

AURALiC was founded with a strong specialization in audio streaming and has developed over time a complete hardware and software ecosystem dedicated to digital music reproduction. The Vega S1 integrates the proprietary Tesla G3 platform, an advanced processing architecture designed to manage streaming, digital conversion, and future software updates while optimizing signal stability and quality.

The design incorporates several technical solutions derived from AURALiC’s higher-end models, including Direct Memory Access (DMA), Direct Data Recording (DDR), and Galvanic Isolation technologies, developed to reduce interference and improve digital signal management. The converter also features the Fusion DAC system, while the clock section uses two 60 fs Femto oscillators to minimize jitter and ensure highly accurate signal timing.

The Vega S1 features balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs and supports a wide range of streaming services and protocols, including Lightning DS, AirPlay 2, TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, Internet Radio, and Roon Ready. Device management is handled through AURALiC’s Lightning DS software platform, which provides a complete interface for managing music libraries, online services, and system settings.

The analog output stage uses the passive ORFEO volume control, a solution developed by AURALiC to maintain high transparency during level adjustment. The Vega S1 also introduces PureDAC mode, which allows network and streaming functions to be disabled, dedicating internal resources exclusively to digital-to-analog conversion, and Tone Mode, which enables adjustment of the sonic character through dedicated settings, including the Mellow profile designed for a smoother presentation closer to analog playback.

The optional S1 Power Supply external power supply is designed to further enhance system performance. Connected to the Vega S1 via the supplied HDMI cable, it replaces the internal power supply through two dedicated transformers and low-noise Purer-Power circuits. This configuration provides complete galvanic isolation between the Tesla G3 processing platform and the audio section, reducing interference and electrical noise for improved playback precision.

The S1 series features a compact half-width format with a simplified cabinet compared to AURALiC’s higher-end models, while still maintaining a metal structure designed to provide rigidity and shielding. The design follows a more essential philosophy, focusing resources on the electronic sections and signal-processing technologies.

The Vega S1 delivers a reproduction characterized by a stable soundstage, precise stereo imaging, and excellent versatility across different musical genres. The use of the S1 Power Supply external power supply provides further improvements in bass control, definition, and authority, enhancing the capabilities of both the converter and streamer.
