The Apogee Rosetta AD is a 2-channel, 24-bit analog-to-digital converter designed for professional recording and mastering applications. Developed to deliver Apogee's renowned conversion quality in a more accessible format, it is intended for recording studios that require high performance, ease of use, and broad compatibility with the most common digital audio equipment.
The design focuses on the essential functions required in a professional studio environment, eliminating unnecessary features while maintaining a compact 1U rack format that integrates easily into virtually any system. Its 24-bit conversion is engineered to preserve the detail and transparency of the original analog signal, contributing to accurate stereo imaging and faithful sound reproduction.
The Rosetta AD provides a comprehensive selection of digital interfaces, including AES/EBU, ADAT, TDIF, and both optical and coaxial S/PDIF. This allows seamless integration with DAT and CD recorders, modular digital multitrack recorders, computer-based audio workstations, and video editing systems, offering considerable flexibility in a wide range of studio configurations. Dual AES/EBU outputs also make it possible to feed two digital devices simultaneously.
The analog inputs support both professional and consumer operating levels, with balanced and unbalanced connections to accommodate a wide variety of audio sources. The front panel features a straightforward layout with an easy-to-read bar-graph meter for immediate monitoring of signal levels.
Among the integrated technologies is Apogee's proprietary SoftLimit system, designed to handle high-level transients while reducing the risk of clipping during recording. The converter also incorporates UV22HR processing, used for high-resolution word-length reduction when creating 16-bit and 20-bit masters while preserving as much of the original 24-bit resolution as possible.
The Rosetta AD was produced in versions supporting sampling rates up to either 48 kHz or 96 kHz, while maintaining the same design philosophy focused on high-quality conversion, intuitive operation, and full compatibility with the most widely used digital standards in professional audio.
