The DAC-50 is an optional digital input board designed to expand the playback capabilities of Accuphase components. It allows direct connection of high-quality digital sources, ensuring an optimal listening experience thanks to its ultra-precise MDS-type D/A converter. The converter uses AK4490EQ chips from Asahi Kasei Microdevices, configured in dual parallel per channel, delivering detailed and natural sound reproduction.

The board installs into a dedicated slot on the rear panel of compatible devices, turning the component into a digital hub capable of handling signals from multiple digital sources. Three types of inputs are available: USB (Type B), optical for fiber optic cable, and coaxial for electrical cable. The USB input supports signals up to 11.2 MHz in 1-bit DSD and 384 kHz in 32-bit PCM, the coaxial input up to 192 kHz at 24-bit, and the optical input up to 96 kHz at 24-bit, providing maximum connectivity flexibility and compatibility with high-resolution audio formats.

• Sampling frequency display (when DAC-50 is installed in C-2120, E-600, E-470, E-370, or E-270): frequencies up to 192 kHz are displayed correctly; DSD signals 2.8224 MHz, 5.6448 MHz, 11.2896 MHz and PCM 352.8 kHz – 384 kHz are handled correctly but displayed as “192.0 kHz”
• USB music data playback depends on the PC operating system and playback software; refer to the PC manual for USB settings and connection instructions

• Connection: if multiple input signals are present simultaneously, the unit automatically locks onto the signal when “OPTION 1” is selected, following the priority sequence COAXIAL → OPTICAL → USB; to exclude a signal from selection, either disconnect the cable or turn off the corresponding equipment
