SONY CDP-XB930

Pre owned. In good condition. Shows signs of wear, including on the top panel, as visible in the photos. Supplied with remote control, but without original packaging.

Stereo CD player from Sony’s QS series, a range of audio components designed with particular attention to build quality and sound reproduction. Introduced in the late 1990s, it is designed for Compact Disc playback and features a solid chassis, an aluminium front panel and a Fixed Pickup reading mechanism, designed to minimise mechanical stress during operation.

The digital section incorporates a Sony D/A converter and a digital filter with selectable settings, allowing different signal-processing options. The specified performance includes a frequency response of 2 Hz to 20 kHz, a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 113 dB, a dynamic range greater than 99 dB and total harmonic distortion below 0.0025%.

Connectivity includes stereo RCA analogue outputs and optical and coaxial digital outputs, suitable for connecting external D/A converters or other compatible audio components. A headphone output with adjustable volume is also provided, while CD Text support allows text information stored on compatible discs to be displayed. Programming and playback functions offer additional flexibility in managing tracks.

Measuring 430 × 115 × 290 mm and weighing 4.8 kg, the Sony CDP-XB930 fits easily into a traditional hi-fi system. Its carefully engineered construction, digital connections and compatibility with external converters make it a versatile choice for those looking for a dedicated CD player representative of Sony’s upper-range audio equipment from the late 1990s.
