The PCMII is a CD player designed by combining Cyrus’s digital and analog expertise, built to the same exacting standards that define all Mission-Cyrus products. At the core of this compact player’s design is meticulous attention to the power supply section and the precision of the digital-to-analog converters (DACs), both essential for faithful reproduction of recorded material. Each stage of the PCMII is equipped with exceptional power supplies, designed to provide high power reserves and optimal stability, preventing interference between signals and protecting sensitive sections, from the digital and analog circuits to the laser/servo system and controls.
The DACs, carefully selected for their consistency, ensure superior linearity and signal purity, delivering faithful and detailed sound. To further enhance sonic performance, the PCMII incorporates advanced features: the display can be remotely turned off to reduce unnecessary digital traffic, a “phase-invert” function is available to optimize information retrieval, and the electronic volume control is extremely transparent, ensuring ergonomic and precise operation.
For more demanding users, the PCMII can be upgraded with the Cyrus PSX external power supply, which delivers dedicated clean power to the analog section, freeing additional reserves for the other stages and increasing the overall refinement of the system.
