The Luxman D-100 CENTENNIAL is conceived as the reference SACD/CD player for the brand’s centennial, designed not as a mere evolution of a previous model, but as a full reinterpretation of optical playback. In an era dominated by streaming, Luxman deliberately invests in disc quality, rethinking every mechanical, digital, and analog element to demonstrate that uncompromised optical playback can still deliver a deep, stable, and intensely engaging musical experience.

The player integrates the latest LIFES feedback amplification engine and the state-of-the-art ROHM DAC, representing a complete redesign aimed at achieving the pinnacle of disc and file reproduction. Successor to the D-10X launched in 2020, the D-100 CENTENNIAL introduces significant updates in the drive mechanism, digital circuits, and analog stages, each refined to provide the highest level of audio performance and musicality expected from a high-end component.

The disc drive mechanism, equipped with a dust shutter and smooth, quiet tray operation thanks to Luxman’s proprietary LxDTM-i (Luxman original Disc Transport Mechanism – improved) system, integrates the transport directly into the main chassis. The precision structure, composed of 8 mm thick aluminum side panels, a 5 mm steel top plate, and a new 8 mm aluminum base plate, ensures exceptional rigidity and isolation from external vibrations, protecting the delicate rotating system.

In the digital conversion section, the D-100 uses the ROHM BD34302EKV DAC in a dual-mono configuration, capable of decoding PCM files up to 768 kHz/32-bit and DSD up to 22.5 MHz (DSD512) via USB. A large quartz oscillator and a very low phase-noise integrated circuit drive the clock with extreme precision, reducing jitter and delivering detailed and natural sound reproduction. The analog stage, based on the LIFES 1.1 feedback engine in a fully balanced configuration, provides an open, dynamic, and exceptionally natural sound, capable of conveying not only the recorded information but also the atmosphere and emotion of the performance.

The front panel is enhanced by a high-resolution organic EL display and a sculpted “beltline” between the hood and the front panel, while contrasting finishes and three-dimensional shapes give the player a sense of visual depth and sonic refinement worthy of a flagship model. The D-100 CENTENNIAL can play CDs, SACDs, PCM, and DSD files, supporting USB, coaxial S/PDIF, and two TOSLINK optical inputs, while the transport can also be used independently via coaxial and optical outputs limited to PCM.

The analog section sends the signal through gold-plated RCA terminals or Neutrik XLR connectors, supported by Luxman’s premium transformers and capacitors. The unit, weighing 25.4 kg, rests on insulating cast-iron feet and features a shielded composite chassis, with the remote control included as standard. The D-100 CENTENNIAL thus delivers a supreme listening experience, combining uncompromising construction and advanced audio technologies to reproduce every musical nuance with precision and intensity.
