The DP-720 presents itself as an integrated SA-CD/CD player that represents the natural evolution of the technological expertise developed in the brand’s reference models, with the aim of achieving top-level performance in the all-in-one category. The design is based on an advanced architecture that combines a next-generation SA-CD/CD transport mechanism with a sophisticated MDSD-type D/A converter, engineered to maximize the performance of both physical media and high-resolution digital formats.
The optical transport system is developed according to highly precise mechanical and structural rigidity criteria, with a design focused on minimizing vibrations and ensuring extremely stable and accurate signal reading. The lightweight and vibration-resistant pickup unit works in synergy with a reinforced mechanical structure that helps maintain a low center of gravity and superior overall stability, allowing all information contained in SA-CD and CD discs to be faithfully extracted, including playback of DSD discs in DSF format.
The digital conversion stage is based on an advanced MDSD architecture that uses multiple D/A converters operating in parallel per channel, improving conversion accuracy and reducing errors through a signal summing process that increases the signal-to-noise ratio and overall playback quality. This approach delivers a more natural and detailed sound reproduction, with particular attention to signal coherence even under complex conditions. DSD signal processing is carried out through a moving-average filtering system that reduces high-frequency noise while preserving the musical integrity of the original signal, further enhancing linearity and playback precision.
The DP-720 also features a fully balanced post-conversion structure, with separate signal paths and independent filters for each audio output, ensuring an extremely clean and stable output. A “Direct Balanced” filter is implemented to separately manage balanced and unbalanced signal paths while preserving signal integrity in both configurations. The conversion system uses eight D/A converters in parallel per channel, working in synergy to increase overall precision and improve sound dynamics.
The player is equipped with a wide range of digital interfaces, including HS-LINK and asynchronous USB supporting up to 192 kHz/24-bit, as well as dedicated inputs and outputs for external DSP integration, allowing room acoustic correction via devices such as the DG-58. It also includes a phase selector for balanced outputs and a numeric sampling frequency display for real-time signal monitoring. Overall, the DP-720 stands out as a high-end digital source that combines advanced mechanical engineering with sophisticated digital processing, aiming to bring sound reproduction as close as possible to the original recording quality.
