The DirectStream Power Plant 12 is the most powerful compact AC power regenerator offered by PS Audio. This device takes household electricity—which is often unstable, noisy, and distorted—and completely regenerates it, delivering a perfectly sinusoidal, regulated, high-current AC supply capable of dramatically improving the performance of audio and video equipment. Thanks to a process that converts incoming power to DC and then regenerates it into AC, the P12 eliminates all common issues found in domestic power lines, such as low voltage, distorted waveforms, power sag, and noise, ensuring a clean and safe signal for any connected device.

The improvement in sound quality is immediately noticeable: far greater dynamics, both in subtle details and in powerful musical peaks; a wider, more open, and more natural soundstage; and an almost nonexistent noise floor. All of this makes music more engaging, with a naturalness and clarity that are difficult to achieve with a simple wall socket or a passive power conditioner. The P12 not only delivers regenerated power but also protects equipment from potentially harmful events such as surges, spikes, voltage drops, or other electrical disturbances. The internal architecture of the P12 is based on active components similar to those found in a power audio amplifier, capable of regenerating the waveform and maintaining an extremely low output impedance—essential for providing amplifiers with all the current they need, even during the most demanding passages. Thanks to this characteristic, the P12 ensures that the amplifier is never “starved” of energy, enabling optimal performance even at high volumes and guaranteeing superior dynamic control compared to any passive conditioner. The MultiWave technology included in the P12 extends the charging time of the sine wave, offering a larger energy reserve and reduced ripple, resulting in a wider and more musically accurate soundstage.

On the front panel, a 4.3-inch color display allows real-time monitoring of incoming and outgoing distortion, power improvements, and energy consumption. Through this display, users can also customize settings such as power-on and power-off sequencing, output voltage, enabling or disabling individual output zones, and analyzing power quality with an oscilloscope and total harmonic distortion (THD) analyzer.
