The Nordost QK1 is a passive power-line treatment device designed to act on the AC supply delivered to the audio and video components of a system. It is compatible with 110 V and 240 V power supplies and belongs to Nordost’s QRT range, consisting of modular devices that can be used individually or integrated into the system’s power distribution setup.

The QK1 uses a Load Resonance Coil (LRC), which generates a passive electronic field. According to the operating principle stated by the manufacturer, this field acts on the AC supply with the aim of reducing unwanted components and creating a more favorable power condition for the connected equipment.

The coil incorporates Nordost’s patented Micro Mono-Filament technology, applied here in a load configuration. The design is intended to limit timing distortion and signal distortion associated with the power supply, with the aim of keeping the AC current as close as possible to the desired distortion-free condition.

According to the product information, the QK1’s effect on music reproduction is reflected in improved harmonic definition and rhythm, together with clearer articulation of the midrange. It is also intended to improve the attack of details and transients, increase the clarity of the sound image, and enhance the depth and focus of the soundstage.

The QK1 features a cylindrical carbon-fiber body with a mechanically tuned structure. Connection is made via a gold-plated Schuko plug, allowing the device to be inserted directly into an unused socket on a power distributor or into a wall outlet, without requiring any connection within the system’s power path.

The device can be used on its own or integrated into a more comprehensive QRT system, in combination with Nordost components such as the QBASE, QX2, QX4 and QV2.
