KEF KW1

The KEF KW1 is a wireless adapter designed to work with compatible KEF subwoofers, including the KUBE 8b, 10b, 12b, KC62, and KF92 models. It allows one or two active subwoofers to connect to an audio system completely wirelessly, eliminating the need for cables and greatly simplifying the installation of Home Cinema, Audio/Video, and HiFi systems. The KW1 consists of a compact and discreet transmitter and receiver, designed to integrate seamlessly with both an AV receiver in a home theater setup and modern KEF wireless systems such as the LSX II, LS50 Wireless 2, and LS60 Wireless, making it ideal for both Dolby LFE channel setups and stereo HiFi applications. Two subwoofers can be connected wirelessly using a second receiver sold separately, optimizing subwoofer placement for the best possible sound performance.

The KEF KW1 technology is engineered to deliver high-quality audio performance. The transmitter, powered via USB, and the receiver, powered through the subwoofer’s expansion port, often operate without the need for additional power outlets. Unlike other similar devices, the KW1 operates on a wide 5 GHz band, supporting high-resolution audio transmission up to 24-bit/48 kHz. The system provides an operational range of up to 15 meters and up to 30 meters line-of-sight, allowing subwoofers to be positioned optimally even in complex environments. An advanced RF channel selection algorithm, latency under 17 ms, and signal encryption ensure a stable, interference-free connection and a secure, high-fidelity listening experience.

The kit’s transmitter connects to the audio source, such as an amplifier, AV receiver, or active KEF speakers. It features a stereo LINE IN input, where both L + R channels should be used even for mono signals; KEF provides an adapter for single-cable connections. The PAIR button allows the transmitter to pair with the receiver or restore the pairing if necessary, while an LED indicates the pairing status.

The KW1 RX receiver, included in the kit and also available separately, connects to the back of KEF subwoofers via the 4-pin expansion port. A second receiver can be paired with the same transmitter to control an additional subwoofer, ideal for home theater setups or advanced audio configurations with LSX II and two KUBE 8 MIE subwoofers. The receiver is powered directly by the subwoofer through the expansion connector, and the PAIR button with its LED allows easy monitoring and management of the pairing with the transmitter.
