The system employs a push-pull electrostatic transducer in which an ultra-thin electrically charged diaphragm is suspended between two perforated stators. Because the moving mass is virtually negligible, the diaphragm reacts with extraordinary speed and precision, resulting in exceptionally fast transient response, extremely low distortion, and sound reproduction distinguished by outstanding resolution, a spacious soundstage, and remarkable naturalness across the entire frequency range.

One of the key improvements introduced with the MK2 version is the detachable cable connected directly to the earcups. This solution simplifies maintenance and cable replacement while making everyday use more practical and versatile. The SR-L700 MK2 features the same cable used on the flagship SR-009S, consisting of six parallel low-capacitance conductors made from annealed 6N (99.9999%) oxygen-free copper with silver plating. This premium cable is designed to preserve signal integrity and maintain exceptional transparency throughout signal transmission.

The earcup assembly incorporates a newly developed aluminum holder that provides greater rigidity and mechanical stability than the previous version. Its gently curved design improves ergonomic fit, allowing the earspeakers to conform more naturally and comfortably to the listener's head. The increased structural rigidity also helps minimize unwanted deformation and vibration, while the improved seal around the ears contributes to deeper, more controlled bass reproduction—an especially important characteristic for an open-back design.
