The Van den Hul D-102 MkIII is an interconnect cable belonging to the Dutch manufacturer's reference range, offered here in its semi-balanced version and fitted with Van den Hul C-7.3 connectors. The model represents the evolution of the D-102 series and has received several awards over the years, including the "Product of the Year" title from What Hi-Fi magazine.

The design adopts a triple-hybrid configuration with a high degree of shielding and combines different conductive materials. OFC copper and silver are complemented by conductive carbon fibre and several strands of the 3T conductor, following an approach developed by Van den Hul to influence the cable's electrical characteristics and overall performance.

An important part of the design is Linear Structured Carbon (L.S.C.), consisting of a continuous structure of carbon atoms arranged in multiple individually insulated fibres. The material offers thermal, chemical and mechanical stability and is used as a conductive element in the cable. According to Van den Hul's design approach, the use of L.S.C. helps limit harshness and contributes to a reproduction characterised by well-defined spatial information, articulate midrange and a high level of resolution.

The outer jacket uses Hulliflex, a material developed and patented by Van den Hul. The structure combines flexibility with chemical stability, providing protection for the conductor and contributing to the cable's durability. Hulliflex is also free from PVC and halogenated materials, a choice adopted by the manufacturer with environmental considerations in mind.

In listening, the D-102 MkIII is characterised by a clean and transparent presentation, with a three-dimensional soundstage and a high ability to retrieve the information contained in the recording. Fine details and spatial information remain clearly perceptible even at low listening levels, while the cable maintains clarity and cleanliness as the volume is increased.
