The Nordost Red Dawn represents the upper level of the manufacturer’s Leif family and is the pinnacle of the Leif 3 series for analog connections. The design is conceived to transfer the audio signal without the use of filters, with the aim of limiting alterations and distortion during transmission.

The cable uses six 24 AWG solid-core OFC conductors, silver-plated and arranged in three twisted pairs. This configuration helps reduce interference between the signals being carried, while each pair is individually shielded. The conductors are then bundled together and protected by a second braided shield, providing a stated 97% coverage.

The insulation is made of FEP, selected for its dielectric properties, while the design incorporates Nordost’s patented Micro Mono-Filament technology. The absence of unnecessary filler materials keeps the cable thin and flexible, while also providing a signal path designed to minimize losses.

The Red Dawn 3 Analog Interconnect is terminated with gold-plated Neutrik connectors, available in XLR or Profi Neutrik RCA configurations. The cable is entirely manufactured and terminated by hand in the United States.

According to Nordost’s design approach, the cable is conceived as a neutral, filter-free connection intended to preserve the integrity of the signal from the source. The conductor and shielding configuration is also designed to maintain high transmission speed and minimize interference when connecting components within the system.
