Longtime Cardas users will recognize Iridium’s physical resemblance to the classic Microtwin Interconnect and Twinlink Speaker cables, and they will appreciate the performance enhancement. After more than 20 years as staples in high-end audio, those cables were succeeded by Iridium in 2017. The Iridium cables are evolutions of their predecessors, with improvements in dielectrics, significantly enhanced flexibility, and a better tactile feel. With Iridium, natural treble is blended with a smooth midrange and quick bass response for a truly musical connection.

Iridium cables are the most accessible products in the Cardas lineup featuring multi-stranded Litz copper conductors scaled according to the Golden Ratio. In a Litz conductor, each copper strand is coated with a non-conductive enamel that must be burned off with flux and a solder pot before being terminated onto a connector. There are performance benefits associated with these conductors, including the mitigation of the skin effect. However, applying the nylon polyester coating to the copper increases material costs, and the termination of Litz conductors is labor-intensive, making them not feasible for entry-level products.
