The Cardas Iridium is an interconnect cable that combines a star quad geometry with multi-layer Litz copper conductors arranged according to the Golden Ratio adopted by the manufacturer. The design aims to maintain a balance between detail and warmth, with a response characterised by natural high frequencies, a smooth midrange and a fast bass response.

Iridium succeeded the previous Microtwin Interconnect and Twinlink Speaker models in 2017, products that had served as references in Cardas' production for more than twenty years. While retaining a physical structure reminiscent of its predecessors, it introduces improvements to the dielectric materials, greater flexibility and a different tactile feel during handling.

The model also belongs to the more accessible part of the Cardas range to use multi-layer Litz copper conductors scaled according to the Golden Ratio. In this configuration, each individual copper strand is coated with a non-conductive enamel layer, which must be removed through a soldering process before the conductors can be terminated on the connectors. This structure helps mitigate the skin effect and contributes to the electrical characteristics of the conductor.

The manufacture of Litz conductors requires more complex processing than that of conventional copper conductors, also due to the polyester and nylon coating applied to the individual strands. Cardas therefore reserves this technology for models in which the construction process and associated costs are compatible with the use of this type of conductor.
