Furutech DPS-4.1
The Furutech DPS-4.1 is a power cable designed for audio applications and featuring a conductor structure based on a combination of α (Alpha)-OCC and DUCC Ultra Crystallized High Purity Copper. The construction combines two types of high-purity copper selected by Furutech for their characteristics related to electrical signal transmission.
DUCC Ultra Crystallized High Purity Copper is produced by Mitsubishi Materials Industries through a specific process that modifies the crystalline structure of the copper. This treatment allows the material's crystals to be aligned more uniformly while reducing the number of junctions between individual crystal grains, resulting in a conductive structure with a more consistent electrical path.
The α (Alpha)-OCC copper used in the DPS-4.1 is derived from OCC technology, in which the crystalline structure of the copper is developed to reduce the number of junctions between grains and promote continuity along the conductive path. Furutech also subjects the material to its Alpha Super Cryogenic and Demagnetizing treatment, which combines a cryogenic process with demagnetization.
The combination of α (Alpha)-OCC and DUCC allows the characteristics of both materials to be integrated into the same conductor. Compared with conventional OCC copper, DUCC features a further optimized crystalline structure, with a more uniform arrangement of the crystals and a reduction in the associated interfaces. This configuration also makes the material less sensitive to directionality than conventional OCC.
The Furutech DPS-4.1 therefore uses a construction based on high-purity copper and on processes designed to control and optimize the crystalline structure of the conductor, specifically developed for electrical signal transmission and intended for the construction of power cables for audio systems.
Furutech FI-48 (R)
The Furutech FI-48 NCF(R) is a power cable connector incorporating Nano Crystal² Formula (NCF) technology, developed by Furutech to address both the electrical and mechanical characteristics of its components. The NCF material consists of a special crystalline structure with two active properties: it contributes to reducing static electricity through the generation of negative ions and converts thermal energy into far-infrared radiation.
Furutech combines the NCF crystalline material with nano-sized ceramic particles and carbon powder. This composition is used to provide damping properties also associated with the piezoelectric effect, contributing to the control of vibrations and mechanical stresses within the connector structure. The Nano Crystal² Formula is developed and used exclusively in Furutech products incorporating this technology.
The FI-48 NCF(R) also incorporates the Furutech Floating Field Damper system, designed to reduce interference associated with the magnetic and electrostatic fields generated by current flowing through the cable and connector. In an AC-powered system, the magnetic field generated by current flow varies periodically and can induce electrical potentials in the small metal parts used to secure the connector body.
Current flowing through these metal parts can in turn generate floating magnetic fields that interfere with the surrounding field of the cable and connector and may contribute to noise and distortion.
The Floating Field Damper system addresses this by implementing a star-grounding configuration for the relevant metal parts. The various conductive elements of the connector are bonded together and grounded, allowing electrical potentials generated by current flow to be discharged and limiting the formation of floating magnetic fields.
The Furutech FI-48 NCF(R) therefore combines Nano Crystal² Formula technology, intended for electrical and mechanical damping, with the Floating Field Damper system for controlling interference associated with the connector's metal components. The system is covered by U.S. Patent No. 6,669,491 and European Patent EP1445837.
Furutech FI-E46 (G)
The Furutech FI-E46 NCF(G) is a Schuko connector for power cables designed for audio applications and featuring Nano Crystal² Formula (NCF) technology combined with the Furutech Floating Field Damper system. The two technologies are used to address both the mechanical characteristics and the electrical interference associated with the connector structure.
Nano Crystal² Formula (NCF) uses a special crystalline material developed by Furutech with two active properties. The first consists of generating negative ions, which contribute to reducing static electricity, while the second involves converting thermal energy into far-infrared radiation.
The NCF material is combined with nano-sized ceramic particles and carbon powder. This composition is designed to provide additional damping properties associated with the piezoelectric effect and contributes to controlling vibrations and mechanical stresses within the connector.
The FI-E46 NCF(G) also incorporates the Furutech Floating Field Damper system, designed to limit interference generated by the magnetic and electrostatic fields associated with current flowing through the cable and connector. Current flow generates a varying magnetic field that can induce electrical potentials in the small metal parts used to maintain a secure clamping of the connector body.
The electrical potentials present in these metal parts can in turn generate floating magnetic fields that interfere with the surrounding field of the cable and connector and may contribute to noise and distortion.
The Floating Field Damper connects the various metal parts of the connector and implements a star-grounding configuration. Electrical potentials generated by current flow are therefore shunted to ground, reducing the formation of floating magnetic fields and the associated interference.
The Furutech FI-E46 NCF(G) therefore combines NCF technology, designed for electrical and mechanical damping, with the Floating Field Damper system for controlling the electrical potentials and magnetic fields generated by the connector's metal components. The Floating Field Damper system is covered by U.S. Patent No. 6,669,491 and European Patent EP1445837.
