The TacT RCS 2.0 represents the most advanced result of a long tradition of room-correction devices. Originally developed under the Snell brand, it is the product of wave-propagation research by Dr. Radomir Bozovic. Its function is based on a three-step process: it analyzes how the system and room reproduce test signals, identifies the differences from the original in both the frequency and time domains, and then applies a corrective algorithm to compensate for the acoustic and hardware effects on playback. While the concept has existed for years, only modern digital signal processors—fast and affordable—have made it possible to implement such technology in a consumer product like this.

In its standard configuration, the RCS 2.0 is a two-channel digital device with optional analog expansion: it can be equipped with up to four analog inputs (with 24-bit/96kHz A/D conversion) and two analog outputs (24/96 D/A conversion), in addition to the standard digital I/O. Thanks to its small and lightweight remote control, it can easily function as a digital preamplifier and control center for an entire audio system.

When used with care and consistency, room correction can improve sound in ways few other upgrades can match. The change may not be as immediately noticeable as replacing loudspeakers, but it is deeper and more pervasive, as it benefits every component and every source in the system.

Over time, it becomes increasingly clear how much the TacT Audio RCS 2.0 can bring home listening closer to the experience of live music. For any serious system, it becomes hard to imagine doing without it.
