ONKYO ICON P-80

The Onkyo P-80 is a network preamplifier designed to deliver an impeccable audio experience, seamlessly combining the purity of analog sound with modern streaming and control features. Its patented DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry) ensures vivid, smooth, and natural musical reproduction, reducing distortion and making digital sources such as CDs and streaming audio sound as natural as vinyl records. This technology is applied both in the DAC’s analog filter and in the phono circuit, optimizing overall sound performance.

The P-80 features a fan-less design that eliminates mechanical noise, a high-quality 32-bit/768 kHz stereo DAC, and a large extruded aluminum heat sink to suppress vibrations, providing a solid foundation for crystal-clear, distortion-free sound. Its chassis, consisting of two aluminum side panels and a steel top panel, enhances rigidity and seismic resistance, while the oval chassis with press lines distributes vibrations and further improves audio quality. High-quality components, including selected capacitors, hi-fi terminals, and rigid front panels, reduce mechanical interference and signal degradation. The phono circuit is independent, compatible with both MM and MC cartridges, and the MC path is discretely designed to faithfully reproduce even the most delicate signals without distortion.

The preamplifier includes two independent subwoofer outputs to fully express low frequencies, and offers extensive connectivity options for turntables, CD players, and digital devices, including three pairs of analog RCA inputs, MM/MC phono input, coaxial and optical inputs, USB-A for storage playback, and a headphone output. It also supports streaming platforms such as Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music, Qplay, TuneIn, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, and Roon Ready, ensuring maximum flexibility for enjoying music in any format.

The Onkyo P-80 can be controlled via the Onkyo Controller app, allowing management of sources and settings directly from the listening position. It features the Dirac Live Room Correction Suite Stereo, which corrects room acoustic imperfections with multiple playback modes, and can optionally include Dirac Live Bass Control for optimal management of the two independent subwoofers. Thanks to this combination of advanced technology, premium materials, and thoughtful structural design, the Onkyo P-80 delivers precise, transparent, and immersive sound, enhancing any audio system from delicate vinyl records to modern digital streams.
