Line preamplifier designed to serve as the control center of an audio system, combining signal management with extensive configuration and programming options. The design allows the unit’s operation to be adapted to different sources and system configurations while maintaining an approach focused on keeping the signal path straightforward.

The cabinet features a low-profile, deep structure, with a thick metal front panel in a silver finish. A two-line blue-character display is positioned in the center and is designed to remain readable from a distance. Six buttons to its right provide direct access to the main functions, while full control is handled via the remote control.

The display shows information relating to the selected source and operating settings. When adjusting the volume, the attenuation level is displayed using larger characters. Brightness can be set to four levels, while the screen saver function can completely switch off the indications after a defined interval or activate character movement to prevent static information from remaining on the display for extended periods.

Volume is controlled through a combinational matrix of resistors switched by relays, with adjustment in 0.5 or 1.5 dB steps depending on the control used. The preamplifier also allows channel balance to be adjusted and a specific attenuation level to be stored for each input, compensating for level differences between different sources without having to adjust the main volume each time.

The rear panel provides four line inputs and two tape inputs, all using unbalanced connections. Main outputs are available in both balanced and RCA configurations, along with a Main output that allows the preamplifier to be used in passive mode, bypassing the gain of the active stage. There are also two tape outputs and an additional pair of outputs, available in both balanced and RCA configurations, with independently adjustable levels.

Independent output-level adjustment allows the preamplifier to be adapted to configurations requiring separate signal paths, making it possible to compensate for level differences between system sections or adjust the overall balance. Active or passive mode can be selected directly from the remote control, as can the mute function and activation of the tape outputs.

Each input can be assigned a custom name using alphanumeric selection, while Audio-Video mode allows the preamplifier to be used in a system with an external processor, disabling the volume control of the SC-2B MR. The various settings can be managed and stored through the integrated control system, allowing the unit to be configured according to the characteristics of the sources and the system.

Power is supplied by a separate unit connected to the preamplifier through three dedicated connections. Two connections are used for the separate analog power supplies for the channels, while the third handles communication with the control circuitry responsible for the unit’s functions and programming. The computer-derived connectors are secured with screws to ensure a stable connection between the two units. The remote-control sensor is located on the front panel of the separate power supply, allowing only the power supply and remote-control module to be oriented toward the listening position.
