Vacuum tube preamplifier

The PL-P power supply uses rechargeable "D" type batteries, charged via an external AC power supply. This eliminates the negative effects of mains power, resolving persistent noise issues. The dual-stage DC-DC converters ensure a clean power source for the circuits and electronic components.

Unique Design Phono Stage
The phono stage is designed with carefully selected tubes and Nagra transformers to deliver excellent performance with both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges. It offers adjustable capacitance and resistance to suit various cartridges. The selectors are internally mounted to avoid interference.

Class A Tubes
Each channel includes two pure class-A triode sections for additional amplification. The preamplifier has two stages: one for input management and one for output level management and the recording loop. The output stage tubes are directly coupled to the connectors and can handle loads up to 600 Ω.

Ergonomics
Input selection and level adjustments are made via a precision rotary switch and potentiometers on the front panel. Channel adjustments can be made independently or simultaneously, thanks to a clever clutch mechanism.

Attention to Detail
The main circuit board is mounted on elastomeric dampers to reduce external vibrations. Unnecessary tubes are switched off to save battery power, and the audio output is automatically muted when changing input sources.

Tradition – Nagra Modulometer
The Nagra modulometer, identical to the one in the NAGRA IV-S, allows for precise volume and balance adjustments. It helps to balance channels, compensate for level differences, and control the DC input and output levels of the power supply and amplifier.
