The Meridian G01 is an analog stereo control unit that integrates a preamplifier and an AM/FM tuner with RDS/RDBS system, designed to provide comprehensive management of analog sources within high-quality Hi-Fi systems. Developed as a complement to the G Series power amplifiers, it maintains a fully analog signal path, reflecting Meridian’s extensive experience in traditional audio circuit design.

Although Meridian is widely recognized for its digital solutions, the company’s origins are rooted in analog engineering, and the G01 incorporates over twenty-five years of research and development in the field of analog preamplification. The design combines high construction quality with precise signal management, offering a solution for enthusiasts who wish to maintain a high-performance analog audio chain.

The rear panel provides seven stereo analog inputs dedicated to different sources, configurable for connecting CD players, televisions, tape recorders, turntables, DVD players, and other analog equipment. Each input features independent level adjustment, allowing volume matching between sources with different output characteristics and avoiding variations when switching between devices.

The dedicated turntable input can be factory-configured with a specific phono module for either Moving Coil (MC) or Moving Magnet (MM) cartridges, allowing the G01 to be adapted to different analog system requirements.

The volume control uses a proprietary dual differential balanced circuit, designed to maintain accurate channel tracking and preserve frequency response at all listening levels. Adjustment is performed through a front-panel rotary control with integrated mute function, ensuring simple and immediate operation.

The G01 also features two preamplifier outputs, a solution intended for bi-amplification configurations or integration with multiple power stages. A trigger output is included for automatic control of compatible external devices.

The integrated AM/FM tuner section with RDS/RDBS support completes the functionality of the unit, allowing radio listening to be incorporated directly into the Hi-Fi system without requiring additional components.

The Meridian G01 represents a complete solution for high-quality analog audio systems, combining control, preamplification, and tuner functions in a single unit designed according to Meridian’s philosophy of circuit precision and signal fidelity.
