The C2700 Tube Preamplifier continues a long tradition of highly acclaimed McIntosh tube preamplifiers. It also features the advanced DA2 Digital Audio Module technology, which combines state-of-the-art digital capabilities with the proven performance of vacuum tubes.

A worthy successor to the popular DA1 Digital Audio Module, the DA2 offers an expanded set of capabilities. The DA2 features 7 digital inputs, including all the same connections found on the DA1 (2 coaxial, 2 optical, 1 USB, and 1 MCT), plus a new HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC)1 audio-only connection. TVs with a compatible HDMI (ARC) output can be connected to the C2700 to enjoy TV audio through the home audio system. Popular multichannel audio formats from Dolby® and DTS® are supported and will be downmixed to 2-channel audio for proper playback. The TV remote can control the C2700’s power and volume when CEC communication is enabled on both the preamplifier and the TV.

The DA2 is powered by a state-of-the-art, audiophile-quality, 8-channel, 32-bit Quad Balanced digital-to-analog converter (DAC), providing improvements in both dynamic range and total harmonic distortion compared to the DA1. The coaxial and optical inputs on the DA2 can decode digital music up to 24-bit/192kHz for high-resolution audio playback. Finally, the DA2 features McIntosh’s exclusive MCT input, which provides a secure DSD connection to one of the SACD/CD transport units from the MCT series to ensure the highest possible audio quality from your high-definition SACD collection.

For analog music, the C2700 has 9 inputs consisting of 3 balanced connections, 4 unbalanced connections, plus 1 phono input for Moving Coil and 1 phono input for Moving Magnet, allowing connection of one or two turntables. With a total of 16 inputs, the C2700 provides virtually unlimited options for connecting all your music sources. The dual-chassis design keeps the analog and digital sections separate to prevent signal contamination. Outputs include 3 variable balanced outputs, 3 variable unbalanced outputs, and 1 fixed unbalanced output.

Tone controls for bass and treble are included and adjustable in 2 dB increments. The ¼” headphone jack is powered by the High Drive headphone amplifier, capable of driving virtually any pair of headphones; the Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD®) is included to add spatial depth to the listening experience when engaged. The Home Theater Pass Through function allows the C2700 to be easily integrated into a home theater system. Power Control ports allow other connected McIntosh components to be turned on and off automatically, while Data ports send remote commands to connected source components.

All the C2700 audio technology is housed in the unmistakable McIntosh design, featuring a black glass front panel backlit with directed LEDs, blue meters, rotary knobs, illuminated logo, aluminum caps, and polished stainless-steel chassis. The six captivating vacuum tubes are visible through a glass panel on top of the preamplifier. It can be paired with a variety of amplifiers, CD players, turntables, tuners, media streamers, room correction devices, and power controllers, as well as speakers, to complete your home audio system.
