The WAudio 602PP is a phono preamplifier designed for use with turntables equipped with MM (Moving Magnet) or MC (Moving Coil) cartridges, providing dedicated signal amplification and separate handling of the two cartridge types. The MM/MC selection allows the preamplifier to be matched to the cartridge in use, with a gain of 39 dB for MM cartridges and 60 dB for MC cartridges.

The phono stage incorporates RIAA equalization with a tolerance of ±0.3 dB from 30 Hz to 20 kHz, designed to correctly restore the tonal balance of the signal recorded on vinyl. The amplification section features a low noise level and a signal-to-noise ratio of more than 90 dB in MM mode, while total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) is below 0.05%.

The 602PP also features a built-in headphone amplifier, accessible via a 6.3 mm jack output and equipped with an independent volume control. The output is designed to drive headphones with an impedance ranging from 32 to 600 ohms, allowing direct listening to the signal from the turntable.

The control section includes a balance adjustment for the left and right channels, useful for compensating for any level differences and optimizing stereo signal distribution. Connections include MM/MC inputs, RCA outputs and a dedicated ground terminal for connecting the turntable's grounding wire and reducing interference.
