Tube phono equalizer with a CR-type equalization circuit, designed for direct connection to MM cartridges. The equalization section uses a two-stage configuration based on an ECC83/12AX7 dual triode, with a circuit design intended to keep the signal path straightforward. For use with MC cartridges, an external step-up transformer such as the Sun Audio SAT-2000 is required.

The design uses tube rectification and a construction in which point-to-point wiring forms the main part of the circuit, while printed circuit boards are used only in certain sections. This approach maintains an essential internal structure consistent with Sun Audio's construction philosophy.

The power and high-voltage transformers, including the power transformer and choke, are specially manufactured by Tamura Corp. The component selection and internal layout are designed for the operation of the phono equalization circuit, with particular attention to the separation of the different power supply sections.

The SVPE-700CR MK II features a phono input for MM cartridges and an RCA analog output. The configuration is therefore intended for use as a dedicated phono stage within an analog system, while MC cartridges require an external step-up transformer to raise the signal to the appropriate level for the MM input.

The construction uses two 12AX7/ECC83 tubes for the amplification and equalization section and one 6X4 tube for the power supply. The chassis houses the transformers and circuitry in a compact structure, with a total weight of approximately 5 kg, combining both the audio and power supply sections within the main chassis.
