The ST-150 stereo amplifier delivers over 150 watts per channel, for a total of 300 watts in stereo, combining power and musicality in a compact chassis. Fully hand-built by skilled craftsmen and constructed with top-quality components, this model represents VTL’s offering of a high-performance, high-value tube stereo amplifier. The signature VTL sound—fast, clean, and musical, with exceptional bass punch—is driven by the 6550 tubes, which perform excellently in both triode and tetrode configurations. In triode mode, the amplifier is ideally suited for speakers with an efficiency of 92 dB/1W/1m or higher, while in tetrode mode it delivers impressive dynamics and speed, making it suitable for smaller electrostatic panels as well as dynamic speakers that do not require high current. The ST-150 stands out for its exceptional midrange performance and crystal-clear treble, confirming VTL’s expertise in reproducing detail and musicality.

The design features a high-energy power supply with over 200 joules of reserve and proprietary VTL output transformers optimized for sonic performance. The circuit layout minimizes background noise through a specially engineered grounding system. The amplifier is switchable between tetrode and triode modes, providing 150 watts per channel in tetrode and 70 watts per channel in triode. Each channel uses four 6550 tubes with individually adjustable bias, ensuring stability and optimal performance. The signal path employs audiophile-grade film and foil capacitors, designed to deliver transparency, detail, and musicality in every note.
