High-end stereo power amplifier developed with a fully balanced architecture. The design uses Burmester’s proprietary Class A X-Amp input stages and maintains a fully DC-coupled signal path, with no capacitors in the audio signal path. The use of low overall negative feedback and selected components completes a circuit design focused on linearity and stability.

The power supply is generously dimensioned to provide high current delivery, while the high damping factor allows the amplifier to maintain stable control of the load even with loudspeakers presenting demanding impedance characteristics. The circuit is designed to remain stable across a wide range of loads and throughout the frequency spectrum. The configuration can also be converted to mono operation using dedicated external adapters or, depending on the configuration, through an internal bridged connection.

The output stage uses eight selected power transistors per channel and delivers 350 watts per channel into 4 ohms in stereo configuration, while bridged mono operation reaches 770 watts into 4 ohms. The high current capability and circuit configuration allow the amplifier to drive loudspeakers with complex loads while maintaining substantial dynamic headroom.

The construction follows Burmester’s characteristic aesthetic, with a silver-finished metal chassis and precisely machined surfaces. The heat sinks are positioned along the front and sides of the unit, contributing to the thermal management of the output stage. The design also incorporates large screw-type loudspeaker terminals, intended for use with spade connectors.

Connectivity includes balanced and unbalanced inputs, while connection to other Burmester components allows remote power on/off via a 10 V DC control signal. The amplifier can also be used in bi-amping configurations through dedicated external adapters. A protection circuit separate from the signal path monitors parameters such as temperature and DC offset, protecting the electronics without affecting the audio signal path.

The Burmester 911 is characterised by a neutral response, high resolution, precise low-frequency control and accurate reproduction of both micro- and macro-dynamics. Its substantial power reserve allows it to maintain stability even at high listening levels, while the high damping factor contributes to precise loudspeaker control.
