The Copland CSA70 is a compact integrated amplifier that combines tradition, performance, and practicality in a single device. Produced by a company renowned for the reliability of its models and excellent value for money, this amplifier represents the entry-level tier of the lineup, alongside the more powerful CSA100 and CSA150. Unlike its larger siblings, the CSA70 uses exclusively solid-state technology, foregoing the valve section to reduce costs and offer a simpler, more user-friendly product. Its compact size and low heat generation make it ideal for enthusiasts entering the Hi-Fi world, without compromising the signature sound quality typical of Copland.

Internally, the CSA70 combines a pure Class A preamplifier and driver stage with a Class AB transistor power stage capable of delivering 2 x 70 W into 8 ohms. This design allows each technology to perform optimally: Class AB provides power and control, while the sophisticated Class A circuit ensures precise and musical voltage amplification. Volume control is handled by a high-quality motorized potentiometer, avoiding the need for additional electronics in the signal path, as is common in similar digital systems.

Special attention is given to the headphone amplifier, fully separate from the power stage and connected directly before the drivers, capable of driving both modern low-impedance headphones and more demanding high-impedance models with ease. The CSA70’s versatility is further enhanced by the inclusion of a Phono MM input and three line-level inputs, as well as an internal DAC with S/PDIF, optical, and USB-B inputs, capable of decoding signals up to 32-bit/384 kHz via a Sabre ES9018 in Quad Mono configuration, with four dedicated chips per channel. The amplifier also features two line outputs, one of which is volume-controlled, and comes with a remote control for managing all main functions.
