The Audiolab 6000A Play is the latest evolution of the renowned 6000 series, combining the 6000A integrated amplifier and the 6000N Play wireless streaming player into a single solution. This model retains the acclaimed analog and digital circuitry of the 6000A while adapting to modern music streaming needs, offering near-universal compatibility with audio sources.

At the heart of its streaming capabilities is the DTS Play-Fi platform, allowing high-resolution audio playback up to 24bit/96kHz with services such as TIDAL and Qobuz. The 6000A Play can access music from any device connected to the network, including smartphones, tablets, PCs, and NAS devices, while also providing access to a wide range of services such as Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music, Napster, and more, along with thousands of radio stations and podcasts. DLNA compatibility enables streaming from home media servers as well. DTS Play-Fi ensures uninterrupted playback with gapless streaming and direct transfer mode, preventing incoming calls or smartphone notifications from interrupting listening.

The 6000A Play retains the refined circuitry of the 6000A, designed by Jan Ertner, building on the experience gained from the previous 8300A model. The integrated DAC is an ES9018 Sabre32 with 32-bit HyperStream architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator. Four digital inputs—two coaxial and two optical—support signals up to 24bit/192kHz, with user-selectable filters (Fast Roll-Off, Slow Roll-Off, and Minimum Phase). Wireless connectivity is enhanced with Bluetooth featuring aptX codec for high-quality streaming.

The amplifier operates in Class AB and delivers 50W per channel at 8 Ohms. Its output stage uses complementary feedback (CFB) and a 200VA toroidal transformer, supported by four 15,000µF capacitors for a total of 60,000µF, ensuring stability and dynamic response. The unit can function as an integrated amplifier, preamplifier, or power amplifier. It also features a phono stage for MM cartridges with JFET circuitry and RIAA equalization, as well as a dedicated headphone amplifier with current feedback.

Sonically, the 6000A Play delivers a balanced and engaging performance. High frequencies are detailed yet never fatiguing. The midrange is rich and nuanced, with clear vocals and guitars that reveal every subtlety of the artist’s touch. Bass, while not overly abundant, is tight, controlled, and well-defined. Although the 50W output does not provide the depth of more powerful models, the attack remains precise and physical.
